High California Gas Prices and Interactive Heat Map

Here is an interactive heat map for gasoline prices around the nation. Most states except the west coast are paying roughly $4/gallon or less. But California residents are paying the most for gas averaging more than $4.41/gallon! Why? Taxes. California pays the highest gasoline taxes in the nation. Not only we pay nosebleed prices for housing in California, but we also have to pay excessively high gas prices as well! Hmm, sometimes I wonder if the good weather is really worth all this pain... If you are a Californian, what do you think?

Gasoline Taxes
California: $0.64/gallon
National Average: $0.47/gallon

Diesel Taxes
California: $0.72/gallon
National Average: $0.53/gallon
